Brig. Gen. Chris Amrhein, Air Force Recruiting Service commander, welcomes home Vietnam veterans, who were part of the honor flight, arriving back from a D.C. trip to AirVenture 2023 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, July 28. Amrhein also gave remarks and spoke about his father’s service during the Vietnam War. The “Salute to Veterans” event celebrated 50 years after the end of the Vietnam War and the honor flight is part of an AirVenture tradition.

Special Warfare Training Wing Airmen from Joint Base San Antonio displayed tools of the trade at their booth, plus standard physical fitness assessments for about 600,000 attendees at the Experimental Aircraft Association Oshkosh AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, July 24-30. Members of SWTW are tasked with the mission of assessing, selecting and developing ground combat forces that specialize in global access, precision strike and personnel recovery. Career fields that are under the SWTW umbrella are: combat control, pararescue, special reconnaissance, tactical air control party, combat rescue officer, special tactics officer and tactical air control party officer.

Chad Bickley, met with Civil Air Patrol cadets for at Experimental Aircraft Association Oshkosh AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, July 29. As a Total Force partner and auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force, the mission of CAP is to search for and find the lost, provide comfort in times of disaster and work to keep the homeland safe. CAP’s more than 64,000 members promote aviation and related fields through aerospace/STEM education and help shape future leaders through CAP’s cadet program.
