Maxine Ababa, senior protocol specialist at the 37th Training Wing, pets Military Working Dog AAbaba Aug. 17, 2023. Ababa reunited with her former MWD foster pup following his graduation from the MWD training program. MWD AAbaba was born and bred at the 341st Training Squadron at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas, where he completed his explosive detection and patrol training. Maxine Ababa, senior protocol specialist at the 37th Training Wing, and her son, Jordan, reunite with Military Working Dog AAbaba, Aug. 17, 2023. The MWD is named after her late husband and was fostered by the Ababa family through the 341st Training Squadron Foster Program. The 341 TRS executes the MWD training program for the Department of Defense and the MWD Foster Program is supported by volunteer families in the San Antonio and Austin areas who take in the pups for up to seven months. About a year following the death of her late husband, Ababa had the opportunity to foster an MWD, suitably named AAbaba, from the 341st Training Squadron’s breeding program.
