Several hundred Airmen, community partners and friends joined Sheppard AFB officials to cut the ribbon on the base’s newly opened, $94 million medical treatment facility Nov. 29.

The state-of-the-art outpatient facility provides patient access to modernized medical, dental, radiology, pharmacy and laboratory equipment and services for approximately 20,000 beneficiaries, including military members, their families, retirees and others.

In addition to upgraded equipment and facilities, the new clinic has another crucial benefit – location. It is in the heart of the base, closer to dormitories, food services, fitness and recreational facilities, and the base exchange and commissary. For student Airmen especially, it means a trip to the clinic won’t involve a mile-long trek in the Texas heat and weather.

After the ribbon cutting, 82nd Medical Group Commander Col. Felicia Burks also unveiled a statue of a Texas mustang, in homage to the group’s mascot – the Mustang Medics. That was followed by a T-38 flyover courtesy of the 80th Flying Training Wing.

The new clinic also highlights the ongoing partnership between Sheppard and the surrounding communities, as artwork installed by the Wichita Falls Arts Council featuring local and regional artists is placed throughout the building.

More information about clinic services and how to access care for beneficiaries is available on the 82nd Medical Group web site at https://sheppard.tricare.mil/.
