CV-22 Osprey lands at Goodfellow Published May 31, 2017 By Airman 1st Class Randall Moose 17th Training Wing Public Affairs GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- A CV-22 Osprey from Cannon Air Force Base, New Mexico, landed at Goodfellow Tuesday to provide Goodfellow students with an orientation on special operations missions and aircraft they may support after graduation. The May 30 visit gave students a hands-on experience, allowing them to have a bigger picture of their job in the operational Air Force. “We are here for the students,” said Capt. Charlie Barret, 20th Special Operations Wing pilot. “We want to give them real world examples of what they may experience after graduation.” The CV-22 is a tilt rotor aircraft that incorporates the takeoff and landing qualities of a helicopter with the fuel efficiency and speed of a turboprop aircraft. Its mission is to conduct long-range infiltration, exfiltration and resupply missions for special operations forces. “This is awesome,” said Airman 1st Class Isaac Watson, 316th Training Squadron student. “It’s exciting to actually come out here and see the aircraft that the Air Force uses today.”
